I'm Emil — a drummer, producer and engineer from Cavan, Ireland, professionally known as Mildly Fool!sh.I've been playing drums, making records and generally obsessing over music for over a decade.I've played live, recorded in studios, worked with artists and producers, and spent an unreasonable amount of time thinking about grooves.I care a lot about feel. Not just whether something is technically correct, but whether it actually makes you want to move.
💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻
When I work, I'm not there to tell you how your music should sound.
You're the artist. It's your song...I'm here to listen, bring ideas, play the part properly, throw out the occasional weird idea, and help make your thing as good as it can be.and...most importantly...We'll have a good laugh together!

I hold a BA (Hons) in Commercial Modern Music from BIMM Dublin.

what I'm here for.
Records, demos, live sessions, tours, festivals — if it needs drums, I'm probably interested.I bring my own sound, ideas and experience to a session while keeping the artist's vision at the centre.I've spent years performing live and working in studio environments, so I'm comfortable adapting to the room, the music and the people I'm working with.I'm comfortable working from charts, demos, references, click tracks or absolutely nothing but a conversation about how you want the music to feel.OR...We can just chat about life and stuff, you know, drink tea?

the general idea.
I like working with people who care about music, but I love working with people who are fun!I'm collaborative by nature. I'll always bring my own ideas and perspective to a session, but the artist's vision comes first. If you've got a very specific idea, let's make it happen.
If you've got absolutely no idea what you want yet, that's fine too.
If you've got an idea that might be completely stupid but somehow brilliant...even better. My job is to listen, contribute, adapt and make the music better — without losing what made it yours in the first place. And of course, I'm there to have a good time.

“Emil brings remarkable consistency, passion, and a high technical standard to his playing. His openness to stylistic challenges, combined with his endearing character, makes him suitable for a wide range of professional drumming roles.”
— Dave Hingerty (Kíla, The Frames)
people I've worked with.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with and collaborate in live, studio, and songwriting settings with artists including:Cliffords, Dirty Marmalade, James Vincent McMorrow, John Murry, Josh McClorey, Lil' Phynott, The Savage Hearts, The Strypes, Young Earth, etc. Some of these people were very sensible.
Some of them actually hired me...

live & studio footage.
I'm comfortable across all genres, but these are my favourite;Indie • Hip-Hop • Jazz • Funk • Blues • Soul • Rock • Folk
Here's a playlist of what I've been listening to...
my setup.
I’ve got my own transport and equipment, so I’m happy to travel for shows, rehearsals and sessions. I bring my own drums, snares and cymbals, but I’m equally comfortable working with whatever backline is available.I’m happy to rehearse beforehand when needed, and I’m comfortable with IEMs, click and backing tracks. I like to be prepared, know what’s happening around me and keep things moving — especially when there’s a 15-minute changeover and everyone suddenly becomes very interested in where the drum stool has gone.I can bring the whole circus, or just turn up and play your kit.
Whatever works...
